Mill Description
Kythrea dominates the Plain of Mesaoria and the presence of a large number of grain-grinding mills at such a short distance from the granary of Cyprus and from the capital, offered economic and strategic importance to the village. The Kephalovrysos of Kythrea (Head-Spring) was of major significance as it is highlighted in a number of written sources. Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios, dragoman of Cyprus (1779- 1809) owned five watermills in the village of Kythrea (also see: Historical Documentation).
