Mill Description
This is the fourth of the five consecutive mills that exist in the village of Linou. It is located on the eastern foothills of the Foukasa hills, on the outskirts of the homonymous and famous since antiquity copper mine. The surviving parts of the mill include the aqueduct and the watertower while the building that housed the grinding mechanism is not preserved. The stonebuilt aqueduct extends approximately 22m from the watertower. It is made of a solid wall at the top of which a channel is formed. At its junction with the watertower there was an arched passage that allows movement between the two sides of the mill. The arched opening and a large part of the base of the aqueduct were demolished to construct a road. The aqueduct follows the irregular stone wall technique with local stones. Parts of it have collapsed while loss of extensive parts of the water channel at the top are visible. The watertower is tall and massive and has dimensions of 4.25 x 8.40m at its base and 3.00 x 4.30 m at the top. Its maximum surviving height is about 7.50m. Its two sides are vertical with a stepped form with two steps while the third (front) has an inclined shape with two steps. The masonry is made of local stonework and is plastered. There is extensive loss of cornerstones and coating material. The building that housed the grinding mechanism, on the east side of the watertower, is not visible. Parts of it may exist under the dense vegetation dominating the surrounding area. D. Myrianthefs
